Universal Banker

This retail banking position will provide important support to the Teller line and the Personal Banking area. The ideal candidate must have exceptional customer service skills, enjoy working in a team environment, be able to work independently, exercise sound judgment and adapt to the needs and environment of our busy branches.
The ideal candidate must have teller experience and either
1) Some personal banking experience or
2) A strong desire to learn personal banking.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Perform typical teller duties
  • Open/close all types of retail and commercial deposit accounts
  • Provide banking services by responding to customer inquiries
  • Perform daily maintenance on existing accounts – including overdrafts, returned mail, wire transfers, check orders, online banking questions, etc.
  • Expand and retain both new and existing relationships by understanding and matching client’s financial needs
  • Answer phones in a courteous and professional manner
  • Available to work Saturdays as needed
  • Provide support to team members across the retail banking department
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

Education/Learning Experience

  • A High School diploma or equivalent is required
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures
  • Knowledge of computers and relevant software applications
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices

Work Experience:

  • At least one year of Teller experience required
  • Previous personal banking experience preferred, but not required
  • Customer service experience required, including building and maintaining customer relationships
  • Experience working on Metavante/FIS is helpful

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Ability to work as a team to accomplish tasks required
  • Customer service orientation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Word, Excel and Outlook. Ability to learn other bank software as required
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to organize and plan
  • Ability to take initiative, willingness to be flexible and adapt to changing demands

Teller:

Responsibilities:

  • Service clients in a courteous and professional manner, consistent with our community bank philosophy
  • Perform typical teller duties
  • Meet teller standards, including balancing daily with minimal differences
  • Must be flexible to work opening/closing schedule and Saturdays
  • Answer phones in a courteous and professional manner
  • Work in a team environment
  • Other duties as assigned

Teller Supervisor:

Looking for someone with a strong dedication to quality customer service, strong leadership skills, ability to work independently and make sound decisions, and promote a team environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure auditing controls and security procedures are followed at all times.
  • Recommend modification of established methods, systems, and/or procedures to improve operations of the department.
  • Ensure compliance of all department, bank, and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Assist with training new employees.
  • Process transactions at teller window.
  • Answer questions and resolve conflicts presented by tellers or customers.
  • Must be flexible to work opening/closing/and covering during times of short-staffing.
  • Manages/completes the following tasks:
    -Balancing items at cut-off time
    -Balancing the ATM
    -Balancing the Vault
    -Accept cash turnovers and issue currency to teller from the vault
    -Ensure completion of all department tasks
    -Establish work schedules and ensure proper coverage during absences
    -Approve teller transactions within established limit
    -Complete reports for management as required
    -Maintain continual check on physical property and equipment to ensure good working conditions
    -Set an example for others by promoting a positive image of the bank in their professional manner and outstanding customer service.
  • Other duties as assigned
